Workshops

Thank-you to everyone, men included, who attended the Holiday Workshop. Feedback received has been excellent so thank-you very much for supporting the Workshops so well- even the tricky Sound of Music! There will be more Workshops in August – 6 in total so that you can get your singing fix. If you have any themes you would like us to Workshop then please let Andrew know!

Event Signups

There have been a couple of instances since the new website booking system launched where members have signed up to sing at events and simply not turned up which is causing me a little grief! There are usually people waiting to sing at events so could I respectfully request that when you book yourself onto an event that you make a note in your diary/phone/iPad – whatever and if, for any reason, you are unable to attend that you please “sign-down” from the event online so that places can be offered to someone who is waiting. If the technology is too daunting please e-mail me, call or text and I can remove your booking manually. Many thanks in advance – Andrew.

Please come to The Manor at West Deeping On Sunday 23rd June in the evening from 7pm-9pm.This is an amazing opportunity for the choir to join up in its entirety for the first time in its history. The evening will be a lovely social event.... a wonderful chance to mingle with fellow choir members, enjoy a glass of Pimms and wander around the gardens. We shall sing a few songs from our repertoire which should be an absolutely incredible experience if we can manage to get all 292 voices together!! The proceeds will be shared between Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, a handful of harmonies and West Deeping. Tickets are £5 each (children free) to include a glass of Pimms and some canapés. The tickets will be available next term at each choir session or you can contact me at suzygrigson@msn.com or 079707 84668. Please come and make this a truly spectacular event! 13th July 2013 -Coronation Race Night

Following on from the successful events held in Langtoft and Thurlby we will be holding another race night on Saturday 13th July at 7-30pm in Langtoft Village Hall. This is open to everyone so please tell your friends!!

The evening is being organised by Jackie Dodds (Langtoft) who is looking for sponsorship for races and horses. To sponsor a race costs £10 and includes the cost of admission for two. To sponsor a horse costs £3 and the winning horse owner in each race will receive a bottle of bubbly and a cash prize. Tickets will be on sale from mid-June and will cost £3 each. The event will be a “bring your own” drinks and nibbles night and the theme of the night is Royalty because this weekend will be celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of the Coronation. So bring along your loose change and be ready to cheer along your favourite. It is a night of fun and enjoyment with just a slightly competitive edge! Proceeds from the evening will be used to support “A Handful of Harmonies.” There are still some horses and races left to sponsor so please contact Jackie to book yours - and if you can come up with an imaginative name which follows the theme so much the better. Group Summer Social at Ferry Meadows

An invitation for all members and their partners/husbands/families. My suggestion is we get together for a barbeque at Ferry Meadows - Nene Park, Peterborough one afternoon during the weekends of 31/8-1/9 or 7-8/9. Bring your own food to cook and a dish to share e.g. salad, dessert - to be decided nearer the day. There are barbeques to use, but you may want to bring picnic chairs/tables. We have a gazebo for protection against the sun - or the elements but another 1 or 2 depending on numbers would be good. We could have a sing to entertain the locals - maybe a game of rounders or bowls for anyone feeling more energetic? The only charge would be contribution to charcoal, breads etc, and something for HoH funds, suggest £2.50 pp max? plus entry to Ferry meadows for the car park which is under £5 for the whole day.

Fall back, knowing our weather, is to come to our home - I can accommodate up to about 60ish with borrowing another bbq or 2! If you are interested please email me. Rowena – Peterborough HoH (samfam1975@talktalk.net)

26th October 2013 - Theatre Trip: “We Will Rock You”

Tickets are now on sale for the next trip to London which will be We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre. We have secured good seats in the stalls for this fantastic Olivier Award winning show that celebrates the music of Queen woven into a script written by Ben Elton; the show is witty and vibrant with some outstanding special effects. We will be leaving at 1000hrs and leaving London at 1900hrs which will give plenty time to shop or grab a bite to eat. Tickets cost £60 per person including coach travel and pick up points will be confirmed closer to the time. Proceeds from the trip will be used to support “A Handful of Harmonies.” If you would like a booking form please contact jackiedodds@btinternet.com or telephone 07834 596174.
