Oundle Handful

We have a had a great term at the new Oundle session on a Thursday evening at Laxton Junior School and I am delighted to say that Oundle will now be a permanent member of the Handful family. We are desperately short on Sopranos so please spread the word!! The class runs from 7.00 – 8.30pm on a Thursday. The new term starts on Thursday 18th April.

Stamford Afternoon Handful

Brilliant news! We are starting a new Stamford afternoon session at the Arts Centre from September 2013. If you are interested in this group then please let Andrew or the Bursar know. The class will, as with all groups, run for 6 weeks initially to gauge interest. If you would like some promotional postcards to help launch this new class then let me know!

April Singing Workshops

Following on from the themed workshops in August 2012 we will be offering similar experiences in April! Each workshop is just £6 and all materials are provided. Workshop places can be booked via the website or by collecting a booking form from the Bursar at your weekly session. Workshop bookings will commence on Monday 25th March.

Wednesday 10th April - “Grease” TBC, Peterborough Area

Wednesday 17th April - “The Sound Of Music” Coronation Hall, Market Deeping

Monday 22nd April - “Bring A Bloke” *  Cowbit Village Hall, Spalding

Friday 26th April - “We Will Rock You” Bourne Abbey Church Hall, Bourne

*FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY ladies are welcome to bring a “Bloke” to this session – this could be a male friend, son, husband, father, grand-father- anyone! This is guaranteed to be an evening of fun, laughter and song. Anyone is welcome. Over 16’s only please.

Easter Supper, The Red Hall, Bourne – Saturday 6th April 7.00 – 11.00pm

Tickets for the Easter Supper (£10 per head) are still available – there will be food, dancing, entertainment by us and a licensed bar. Please contact Suzanne Schultz on 07798 645620 if you would like to purchase tickets. There are still spaces if you would like to sing. If you would like to sing then please sign up on the website. The song list will be available very soon!

“Strong Singers”

I would just like to clarify what I mean by ‘strong singers’ in terms of events – maybe a better phrase would have been singers with a “good musical ear” – i.e. those singers who can hold their part well and not be distracted or drawn to other parts around them. I hope this helps.

Comic Relief

Many thanks to the Spalding ladies and the Show Choir who collectively raised £275 for Comic Relief which is amazing!! Thanks to the ladies who organised this, made, sold or bought tea and cakes – a great effort! If any other individuals or groups have ideas for Charity Fundraisers please let me know.

Summer Term Fees

If you were thinking of paying your fees for the Summer Term in advance this can now be done via the website as the registers have now moved into the Summer Term. Two options are available to you:

Premier Membership:  £50
This enables you to attend your chosen class each week. Additional sessions are £4.50.

Premier Plus: £65
This enables you to attend as many classes in as many locations as you like. Unlimited!!

Full payments can also be made by cash or cheque.

23rd February 2013 - Beetle Drive, Langtoft Village Hall

Unfortunately this was cancelled due to lack of support – thanks to Jean and Sandra for the work they put into it. I really hope that we can look at holding this fun social evening in the future. The raffle prizes that were donated have been passed to Suzanne Schultz and will be used for the Easter Supper on the 6th April.

6th October 2013 – Her Majesty’s Theatre, London

This is now booked and limited places are still available for singers. If you do not attend the Show Choir but would like to take part in the London Event you will need to attend Show Choir sessions between now and October as well as meeting the ticket purchase and costume requirements that are listed on the website. There will be 14 places available on the coach for family and friends and these can be reserved on a first come, first served basis at £15 per person. Please speak to me to reserve a place – full payment will be required at the time of booking.

13th July 2013 - Coronation Race Night

The weekend of 13th/14th July is to be celebrated nationally as the Diamond Anniversary of the Coronation hence the title. This will be one of at least two events taking place that weekend so I would love to hear from you as soon as possible if you would like to sponsor a race or a horse on the night – it adds to the fun to see your own horse romp home a winner not to mention the fact that you win a prize!! Tickets to the event will be £3 each, if you want to sponsor a race it costs £10 which includes the cost of two tickets, and to sponsor a horse costs £3 as well. I am looking for some imaginatively named races and horses to carry the regal theme of the weekend so please ping me an email with your ideas and I will reserve you a place. It is a long way off so I won’t be collecting money at this stage. Family and friends are, of course welcome –the more the merrier (from Jackie Dodds – Langtoft group jackiedodds@btinternet.com).

Fundraising Request

If anyone has any old, clean-not ragged clothes, paired shoes, handbags I will store them and when I've collected enough weigh them in for cash -50p a kilo towards funds. Items can be given to Jill at Langtoft or to Andrew at weekly sessions – if you are in the Market Deeping are items can be delivered to Deeping Direct Deliveries for storage (from Jill Eve – evejill@aol.com)
