I have been asked to provide a member of AHOH to represent the choir on the Langtoft Village Hall
Management Committee. Meetings are held on a Tuesday evening – once a month in Langtoft Village Hall. If anyone is interested in this small role then please let me know – thank-you – Andrew.
23rd June 2013 -Music at the Manor
Please come to The Manor at West Deeping On Sunday 23rd June in the evening from 7pm-9pm.This is an amazing opportunity for the choir to join up in its entirety for the first time in its history. The evening will be a lovely social event.... a wonderful chance to mingle with fellow choir members, enjoy a glass of Pimms and wander around the gardens. We shall sing a few songs from our repertoire which should be an absolutely incredible experience if we can manage to get all 292 voices together!! The proceeds will be shared between Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, a handful of harmonies and West Deeping. Tickets are £5 each (children free) to include a glass of Pimms and some canapés. Saturday June 29th 2013 - Spalding Strawberry Fayre – please note change of DATE and VENUE
Spalding HoH are organising a fund raising event to be held at the Scout and Guide HQ on Monks Road Lane on July from 2 – 4pm. One of our members has suggested that we combine it with Breast Cancer because they do an annual event of a strawberry tea which I thought was brilliant hence do a big event as it is something which will benefit us all one way or another I was hoping that I can have a few volunteers from each choir to man a stall I had tentatively put a name by a stall, but if there is a reason/preference to swap the please let me know
￼Langtoft - Cakes (Sainsbury & Greggs generously gave us bags and boxes when we did our Comic Relief event) so start to ask soon @ your local.
Deeping - Produce i.e. fruit (strawberries etc.) or surplus veg, plants….so hopefully members who garden may take an extra cutting for us to sell
Bourne - a Pink stall, jewellery, soap & bath oil, hair products, knitwear, candles, jam & chutneys with pink ribbon round the lid!, anything of any shade of pink!!!
Peterborough – Books, cd, dvds (NO video)
Stamford – Bric-a-brac
Oundle – tombola
Spalding will do teas/coffee/squash, scones, jam & cream raffle, kids games and support.
Obviously we hope we will get donations from all quarters, for all stalls, but it is the man power which will mean that we can all enjoy a successful time, so husband-help will be very much valued as well.
13th July 2013 – A Right Royal Afternoon
A small group of us from Langtoft & Deeping sessions are organising “A Right Royal Afternoon Tea Dance”.
This will be on Saturday July 13th 14.00 – 17.00 in Langtoft village hall, the same day as the Jubilee race night.
Although HoH will not be performing, there will be music throughout the event, a sing along, dancing, quiz and raffle. We need volunteers to supply & / or help with the food (sandwiches, cakes, scones etc), decorating the hall inside & out and serving the teas. All funds raised will go to support A Handful of Harmonies. Period dress from throughout her Majesty’s reign is optional. 13th July 2013 - Coronation Race Night
Race cards (or tickets) for this are now available at the princely cost of £3 per person. Bring your own drinks and snacks – why not come to the tea dance too and make a right Royal Day of it!! Email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 07834 596174 to buy race cards.
14th July 2013 – Our Big Gig, Langtoft Pavilion Field
We need any volunteers who are able to co-ordinate an instrument making workshop which will result in a short performance with said instruments. Anyone who is able to offer any suggestions or is prepared to have a go then please contact Jackie on 07834 596174. Group Summer Social at Ferry Meadows
An invitation for all members and their partners/husbands/families. My suggestion is we get together for a barbeque at Ferry Meadows - Nene Park, Peterborough one afternoon during the weekends of 31/8-1/9 or 7-8/9. Bring your own food to cook and a dish to share e.g. salad, dessert - to be decided nearer the day. There are barbeques to use, but you may want to bring picnic chairs/tables. We have a gazebo for protection against the sun - or the elements but another 1 or 2 depending on numbers would be good. We could have a sing to entertain the locals - maybe a game of rounders or bowls for anyone feeling more energetic? The only charge would be contribution to charcoal, breads etc, and something for HoH funds, suggest £2.50 pp max? plus entry to Ferry meadows for the car park which is under £5 for the whole day. Fall back, knowing our weather, is to come to our home - I can accommodate up to about 60ish with borrowing another bbq or 2! If you are interested please email me. 5th September 2013 - Friends of A Handful of Harmonies Annual General Meeting
Friends of AHOH will be holding the AGM on Thursday 5th September at the Open Door Baptist Church in Deeping St James (directly opposite the Deepings School). The AGM starts at 7pm – cheese and wine will be served.
6th October 2013 - Family and Friends Coach for trip to Her Majesty’s.
A coach for supporters of our next visit to Her Majesty’s is now available to book. The coach will leave the first pick up point at approximately 1430hrs and leave London at 2200hrs (times are provisional). Pick up points will be confirmed nearer to the time. Cost will be £15 per person and to book please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 07834 596174. Please note places will not be confirmed until payment has been received - cheques payable to “A Handful of Harmonies” or cash please.
26th October 2013 - Theatre Trip: “We Will Rock You”
Tickets are now on sale for the next trip to London which will be We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre. We have secured good seats in the stalls for this fantastic Olivier Award winning show that celebrates the music of Queen woven into a script written by Ben Elton; the show is witty and vibrant with some outstanding special effects. We will be leaving at 1000hrs and leaving London at 1900hrs which will give plenty time to shop or grab a bite to eat. Tickets cost £60 per person including coach travel and pick up points will be confirmed closer to the time.
