Harmonies & Harminies

Well with another term safely under our belts I hope you will enjoy the Easter break- my thanks to each and every one of you for your continued support for sessions, performances and social activities. A Handful of Harmonies continues to make me proud, and I was delighted recently to be nominated and selected as a finalist for a business award for services to the community. The results will be announced on 24th April so watch this space!!

The summer term begins week commencing 28th April – and in response to feedback from you we will spend three weeks of each month learning new material and the fourth week reviewing those pieces and spending time going over some of our “back catalogue”. This will keep our repertoire fresh and vibrant so that we don’t forget some of the excellent work we have done over the past three years. I do listen to your feedback and try to structure how we work to suit you all – it’s a challenge but I relish it☺

From recent feedback I would like to set up an informal arrangement in each choir location to support new members and as such I need 1 x alto, 1 x mezzo and 1 x soprano in each location who is prepared to discreetly position themselves with new members, and support them by sharing any points re: notation, phrasing, breaths, notes from previous weeks, or asking questions on their behalf – ANYTHING to make that woman less isolated and bring them up to speed with what we are doing. Please contact me directly if you would be willing to help.

I will be running three workshops during the Easter break - 11th April at Langtoft “Les Miserables”, 14th April at Crowland “Bring a Bloke III” and 16th April at Tinwell “A Tribute to The Beatles”. Full details are on the website, book online or simply turn up on the night. These have proved very successful in previous years and give you the chance to get your singing “fix” when the routine sessions are not taking place!
